Recalling the talented youngster’s entry into American Idol Season 19, the three judges, Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Ritchie, promoted him to the next round after the audition. The singer himself had posted a tweet stating that he felt pleased to have selected Rihanna’s song “Diamonds” for the audition and that the youngster would never forget this day.
Willie eventually went on to compete in the finals of American Idol, and there he sang “Georgia on My Mind” by Ray Charles. He also sang “A Change is Gonna Come” by Sam Cooke and “Stand Up” by Cynthia Erivo. The judges were floored by his performance, but the winner was Chayce Beckham, and Willie settled for runner-up. Grace Kinstler, another participant in American Idol, came third.

Her post was followed by an influx of heartbroken celebrities paying tribute, including producer Randall Emmett who said, ‘I’ll miss you, my friend.
Emmett, who called Spence his friend, also mourned the singer on Instagram following the news of his passing.
‘My friend @williespenceofficial passed away today,’ Emmett wrote. ‘My heart is broken and my prayers go out to his family. I met Willie four ago after his amazing voice went viral on Youtube.’
